At Brightstar, we are committed to advancing agro & food research and innovation, a commitment rooted in the legacy of Dilbagh Singh Atwal, the father of the wheat revolution in India. In his honor, we proudly present the Dilbagh Singh Atwal Scholarship, offering 15 lakhs every two years to postgraduate and PhD students pursuing research in the fields of Agriculture.

The Dilbagh Singh Atwal Scholarship is designed to empower talented students and researchers, supporting groundbreaking work that will shape the future of cultivation, processing, and utilization.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a postgraduate or PhD program related to Agriculture, Food Science, or other relevant fields.

2. Candidates should have a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in food or agro -based research.

3. The scholarship is open to Indian nationals and international students conducting research at recognized institutions worldwide.

How to Apply

1. Submit the Application Form: Complete the online application form available on the official Brightstar website.

2. Research Proposal: Include a comprehensive research proposal that outlines the objectives, methodologies, and expected impact of the research.

3. Academic Transcripts: Provide official academic transcripts reflecting your academic achievements.

4. Letters of Recommendation: Submit two letters of recommendation from academic or professional mentors familiar with your research capabilities and academic potential.

Selection Process

The selection committee, consisting of industry experts and academic professionals, will review all applications based on the following criteria:

1. Academic Merit: Evaluation of academic performance, research achievements, and alignment with thscholarship’s focus.

2. Research Proposal: The quality, feasibility, and impact of the proposed research on theindustry

3. Research Potential: The candidate’s ability to contribute to advancements in bio-science and their commitment to long-term impact.

Approval Criteria

The scholarship will be approved based on the following conditions:

1. The applicant demonstrates a clear and innovative research proposal that aligns with the objectives of the scholarship.

2. The candidate’s academic background, research interests, and potential impact on the food industry are considered strong.

3. Recommendations from mentors and advisors support the applicant’s qualifications and research goals.

Rejection Criteria

An application may be rejected for the following reasons:

1. The applicant does not meet the minimum academic or research qualifications required by the scholarship.

2. The research proposal does not align with the scope or objectives of the scholarship (focused on agriculture or food based products).

3. Incomplete application submissions (e.g., missing transcripts, recommendations, or proposals).

4. The applicant’s proposed research lacks feasibility, academic merit, or practical applications.

5. Insufficient or inadequate recommendations from academic or professional mentors.

Scholarship Disbursement and Formalities

1. The 8 lakh scholarship will be disbursed in installments over the course of the recipient’s academic program, contingent on the submission of annual progress reports.

2. The recipient will be invited to present their research findings at a research seminar hosted by Brightstar, showcasing their work and its potential impact on the agro & food industry.
